Local Enterprise Oice (LEO)
LEOs provide advice, information and support to you in starting or growing your business.
With 31 dedicated teams across the local authority network in Ireland, LEOs ofer a irst-stop
shop for entrepreneurs. Supports available include start-your-own-business training courses,
market research information, business planning advice and templates. They also provide access
to experienced business mentors, feasibility grants and co-investment for your business plans
if approved. Further information is available from your nearest Local Enterprise Oice where
they can help you to identify which of the over 80 government supports could it your business

Leader Program
The Leader programme is made available through the National Rural Network (www.nrn.ie) in
support of businesses in designated rural areas that are generating business and employment in
rural communities. These grants are only available at certain times of the budget cycle, so a close
eye on when they will next be deployed is needed.
Bord Bia
Support for start ups as noted earlier in this guide is primarily in the branding and marketing
realm (reference Topics: 1. Know your Market and 2. Branding). However, Bord Bia’s
extensive Information library is essential during the research phase of your project. Market Study
visits, Brand Forum membership and Bord Bia’s international oice network are also excellent
