Continued
(ii) Start Up Sources of Funding
(i) Debt Funding:
This is the arrangement of loan facilities with inancial institutions such as the banks
operating in Ireland. Some of these institutions have dedicated teams to assess start
up businesses in the premium craft drinks sector. Financing is usually agreed on the
basis of a ixed term & interest rate repayable on the loan. See bank branches and
their respective websites for further details of their oferings.
(ii) Other ‘Creative’ Funding Options:
Crowd funding is available using companies such as linkedinance.com and
www.kickstarter.com. The beneit to the consumers and the public is that they can
invest relatively small amounts of money. ‘Personal Cask’ investment schemes, selling
personalised barrels & casks to the public prior to maturation, can raise much needed
cash upfront for start ups.
(iii) Grants & Equity-based Funding:
What follows is an outline of the main sources of grant & equity based funding
available to you in the start up stage.
